Keeping Bees

It is the last feeding for the honeybees - they need 60 lbs. of food to make it through the winter.

Brent fills the pails in each hive with a sugar water mixture.

Some of the honeybees still searching over the lid of the pail from the previous feeding.

Optimistically, we will have our first extraction of honey the end of May.  This is the time of year where the honey will be a lighter color and milder flavor as a result of the plants blooming, such as dandelion and tree buds.
