Evergreen Wreaths and Holiday Decorations at Our Stand

We make our own wreaths from native materials gathered here at the farm.
Visitors to our stand, and at the Farmers Market in New Haven, can now buy fresh wreaths, made at the farm from a wide variety of materials gathered on the property.

Time, Measured With Leaves

January
Sometimes time is measured with stop watches, or clocks.  Sometimes by the position of the sun.  And sometimes around the farm, time is just measured with leaves.

French Filet Beans

Our favorite French Filet beans are in! Although it has been a long wait this season, we are finally picking buckets of the most tender "green bean" you have ever eaten. These are Masai French Filet beans, or as the French call them Haricot Vert.

These beans are such the favorite of ours...some beans never make it to the bucket, straight from plant to mouth

Quinlan and Katharina stay focused on their task

Honey Extraction and Baklava

The honey bees have never been busier than this year and to our surprise, we had 8 supers to extract from in no time at all providing us with nearly 300 pounds of honey with our first extraction.

Our entomologist friend and resident apiarist, Brent, prepares to gather the supers

Honeycomb

We eat the honeycomb too - there are many nutritional values to this delicious treat

Filling the honey jars for sale at our farmstand

Many delicious ways to use honey - here, Katharina and Quinlan prepare Baklava
So many paths to enjoyment

Look to this day...

“Look to this day for it is life, the very life of life. In its brief course lie all the verities and realities of your existence. The bliss of growth, the glory of action, the splendor of beauty... For yesterday is but a dream and tomorrow is only a vision.  But today well-lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well therefore to this day.”  - Kalidasa (sanskrit)
